The Power of Copywriting

by Nigel Jones on Aug.17, 2010, under Marketing Information

I recently heard this story quoted at a marketing conference and have just found it again on the internet. Enjoy!

During one of his morning walks to work in New York City, David Ogilvy encountered a man begging with a sign around his neck. The sign read: “I am blind, and, as evidenced by his nearly empty cup, the man was not doing very well. Ogilvy removed the man’s sign from around his neck, pulled out a marker and changed the sign to read, “It is spring and I am blind.” He hung the sign back around the beggar’s neck and went on his way.

On his way home he was pleased to notice the vagrant had a full cap.

Social Media Survey – Social Media and its Benefits to Businesses

by Nigel Jones on Jun.22, 2010, under Marketing Videos

As part of my dissertation for my Masters Degree in Marketing, I am undertaking a survey on the uses and benefits of social media to businesses.

Hopefully this also will yield some quality case studies to be used in an upcoming book.

I am looking for participants who are currently using social media as part of their business activities. The survey consists of 21 short (mainly multi-choice) questions and will take 5 – 6 minutes to complete.

Thank you very much for your help and please promote this on your social network, the more responses I get, the more value the survey will be.
