Exceptional Customer Service – Currys, Sunderland

Having worked abroad and enjoyed superb customer service consistently in a number of different countries, I am always bemoaning the typical appalling levels or lack of, customer service we have in the UK. This is generally as a result of poorly trained and de-motivated staff that can’t wait to finish and go home for the day.
However, the levels of customer service I received today from two visits to Currys, Trimdon Street, Sunderland, was so high, I thought it worthy of note!
Not only are the staff highly courteous (and sincere!) but their product knowledge and ability to provide valuable advice on product excels.
Having received excellent assistance in the selection of a TV and DVD player this morning from a member of Currys staff, when my son wanted to buy an iPod touch with his savings this afternoon, there was only one shop to go back to go, and once again the staff were superb.
This is in stark contrast to the service I experienced in autumn last year, following which I was on a training course with a number of DSGI (Currys) senior management who mentioned they were having a major drive on training and customer service. It’s great to see how well this has worked!
I think this is an excellent example of CRM at its best and I am in no doubt that the DSG group will reap the rewards if all of their stores in the group operate in a similar manner.
Next time you are looking for electrical goods – I would strongly recommend trying Currys and you will see what I mean.
